Ian Shaw is joined tonight by a living legend. US born saxophonist and songwriter, Pee Wee Ellis has been at the forefront of jazz and funk for over five decades. From his early days as a player with the New York and East Coast greats (Sonny Rollins taught him) Ellis has been an active guest in some of popular music’s most esteemed recordings and tours, from Esther Phillips and James Brown to Van Morrison. Shaw is a regular vocalist with Pee Wee’s ace new line-up. They have recently returned from a European tour, where the highly regarded Gareth Williams was the pianist. Ian’s regular bassist, Mick Hutton, joins these three for what will be a soulful, swinging, fun night.
